Microsoft Azure training and certification is one of the on demand IT certification required in the industry. Candidates for this exam deploy, package, secure, update, and configure Windows Server workloads using on-premises, hybrid, and cloud technologies.
This role implements and manages on-premises and hybrid solutions, such as identity, security, management, compute, networking, storage, monitoring, high availability, and disaster recovery.
This role uses administrative tools and technologies such as Windows Admin Center, PowerShell, Azure Arc, Azure Policy, Azure Monitor, Azure Automation Update Management, Microsoft Defender for Identity, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, and IaaS VM administration.

Candidates for this exam should have experience in using PowerShell, the Command Line Interface, Azure Portal, Windows Operating System.

1. Deploy and Manage Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS)

20% – 25%
  • Domain Controllers: Deploy and manage domain controllers on-premises and in Azure; deploy and configure Read-Only Domain Controllers (RODCs); troubleshoot FSMO roles.
  • Multi-Site and Multi-Forest Architecture: Configure domain and forest trusts; design and manage AD DS sites, subnets, and site replication.
  • Identity & Access Management: Create and manage AD DS security principals (users, groups, service accounts, and gMSAs); integrate on-premises AD DS with Microsoft Entra ID.

2. Manage Windows Servers in a Hybrid Environment

  • Hybrid Management Tools: Deploy and configure Windows Admin Center; manage servers at scale using Azure Arc.
  • Remote Administration: Configure remote management via PowerShell (JEA, Constrained Delegation), SSH, and Remote Desktop (RDP).
  • Policy & Patch Management: Apply Azure Policy to hybrid machines; automate patch management with Azure Update Manager.

3. Manage Virtual Machines and Virtualization

  • Hyper-V Management: Configure Hyper-V hosts, virtual networks, and storage; manage VM scale, integration services, and checkpoints.
  • Azure IaaS Virtual Machines: Provision and manage Windows Server VMs in Azure; configure availability sets, availability zones, resize VMs, and manage Azure Bastion/JIT access.
  • Containers: Configure and manage Windows Server containers using Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) hybrid options.

4. Implement and Manage Hybrid Networking Infrastructure

  • Name Resolution: Integrate DNS with AD DS; manage DNS zones, forwarding, conditional forwarding, and DNSSEC in hybrid scenarios.
  • IP Addressing & DHCP: Implement and manage DHCP server roles, scopes, reservations, and DHCP failover/high availability.
  • Hybrid Connectivity: Configure Azure Network Adapter, Site-to-Site VPNs, and Azure ExpressRoute connections.

5. Manage Storage and File Services

  • Azure Files & File Sync: Configure Azure file shares; set up and monitor Azure File Sync; migrate DFS file shares to Azure.
  • Windows Server Storage: Configure File Server Resource Manager (FSRM), Distributed File System (DFS), and SMB over QUIC.
  • Advanced Storage Technologies: Configure Storage Spaces, Storage Spaces Direct (S2D), Storage Replica, Data Deduplication, and ReFS/NTFS volumes.

6. Secure Windows Server Infrastructure

10% – 15%
  • Hardening & Isolation: Implement Credential Guard, Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC), and Exploit Protection.
  • Server & Identity Security: Secure domain accounts using Protected Users groups and Authentication Policies; implement LAPS (Local Administrator Password Solution).
  • Cloud & Hybrid Threat Protection: Integrate servers with Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Microsoft Defender for Identity.

7. High Availability, Disaster Recovery & Troubleshooting

10% – 15%
  • High Availability: Deploy and manage Failover Clusters, Cluster-Aware Updating (CAU), and Cloud Witness.
  • Disaster Recovery: Configure Hyper-V Replica, Azure Site Recovery (ASR), and Azure Backup.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot AD replication, name resolution, disk/storage issues, and boot failures using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.

Basic Computer Knowledge is required, additionally Windows Server, Windows Client Operating System Knowledge will have advantages
